On March, 2-3-4, 2016, at the Doro City Hotel in Tirana, IDRA organized training sessions on “Corruption Proofing Legislation in Albania”, with the support of the Ducth Embassy in Albania . At the beginning of theday of the training, Mr. Auron Pashaj, Executive Director at IDRA, introduced the participants with the details and objectives of the institute’s project, in terms of setting up a mechanism to introduce corruption proofing for the
Albanian legislation. Additionally, during the first day of the training, Prof.Dr. Erallda Methasani, legal counsellor to the Prime Minister of Albania, introduced participants to the existing mechanisms in place for reviewing draft legislation in the Council of Ministers. Additionally, participants had a chance to discuss with Mrs.Methasani on the current mechanisms guaranteeing the involvement of the public in the process of drafting and approving legislation in Albania
Mr. Bledi Cuci, the National Coordinator for Anti-Corruption in Albania also introduced trainees to the current existing government mechanisms for corruption proofing of legislation, as well as emphasized the government total support for IDRA’s initiative and expectations from the experts’ work in this regard..
Participants in the training include legal experts from different areas, selected by means of a call for applications published by IDRA in its official website, as well as social media.During the three days of training, 22 legal experts from various institutions, as well as the academia, wereintroduced for three consecutive days to the methodology drafted by IDRA in cooperation with the Prof.As.Dr Evis Alihmehmeti, aimed at identifying potential corruption risks in the Albanian legislation. In the second phase of the project, the legal experts will review draft legislations based on the methodology while relying on the methodology introduced to them during the training sessions.
